27 PKK terrorists eliminated in northern Iraq
Turkish forces eliminated 27 terrorists in recent operations. On Sept. 2, airstrikes targeted positions in northern Iraq, including Metina, Zap, Gara, Hakurk, Qandil, and Asos, killing at least 20 terrorists. Follow-up operations in Hakurk resulted in 7 more terrorists being eliminated.
The Ministry reaffirmed Turkiye’s commitment to continuing its fight against the PKK/YPG terrorist organization in Syria and Iraq.
The PKK has been responsible for thousands of deaths since its first attack in Siirt in 1981 and poses a threat to the territorial integrity of Turkiye, Syria, Iraq and Iran. The organization continues to destabilize the region with support from the U.S., including training, financial aid and weaponry.
