Former Ukrainian Ambassador to Ankara appointed as new Foreign Minister
Ukraine’s parliament appointed Andriy Sibiga, the country’s former ambassador to Ankara, as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs in a major government reshuffle on Thursday. The appointment comes as part of a broader shake-up in Ukraine’s leadership aimed at strengthening the country’s strategic positions.
Sibiga previously served as Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister and has been a prominent figure in shaping Ukraine’s diplomatic relations with Türkiye during his tenure in Ankara. His experience with regional geopolitics and close ties to Türkiye are expected to play a key role in Ukraine’s foreign policy, particularly as the country continues to navigate the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of the reshuffle, stating, “We need new energy, and these steps are about strengthening our country in various aspects.”
Andriy Sibiga replaces Dmytro Kuleba as Foreign Minister and will take on the responsibility of managing Ukraine’s international relations during a critical period of its history.
