An event celebrating the 106th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s independence was held in Maltepe, Istanbul on Sunday. The program, hosted by the Istanbul Türkiye Azerbaijan Solidarity and Culture Association (ISTAD), took place at the Maltepe Municipality Seyirtepe Social Facilities.

During the event, singer Ferid Serifov performed several pieces, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

In his speech, ISTAD President Sefer Karakoyunlu highlighted the deep-rooted brotherhood and solidarity between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, emphasizing that this bond has endured for centuries.

Karakoyunlu expressed his confidence that this brotherhood will continue at the highest level in the future.

“We remember with gratitude and reverence our compatriots and brothers who laid the foundations of independent Azerbaijan 106 years ago, and who heroically reclaimed our lands, 20% of which were under occupation, in a heroic struggle lasting 44 days and 23 hours. We wish a swift recovery to our veterans,” he said.
