‘Enough is enough’: Kurds in Europe condemn terrorist group PKK/YPG
A group of Kurdish intellectuals, artists, nongovernmental organizations (NGO) representatives and activists living in Europe have voiced strong opposition to the terrorist organization PKK/YPG.
In a joint statement, they condemned the PKK/YPG’s actions, including abducting and forcibly recruiting children, turning cities into war zones, and using civilians as human shields.
This declaration marks a clear stance by European Kurds against the terrorist organization – which has long subjected them to pressure and violence.
“We consider it our duty to raise our voices even louder against the treacherous, authoritarian attitudes, mindset, and practices of the PKK/YPG and to shout ‘enough is enough,'” read the statement.
The statement also pointed out that the PKK/YPG uses European laws to conduct criminal activities: “Although the PKK/YPG is on the terrorist lists of the European Union and the United States, it still operates freely in these countries.”
“The organization targets those who oppose, disagree with, or criticize it through political purges, defamation and even physical attacks or assassination attempts,” the statement further said.
The signatories condemned the PKK/YPG for its human rights violations, including kidnapping children and forcing them into armed conflict, turning cities into battlegrounds, using civilians as human shields and digging underground tunnels.
