If Israel attacks again, response will be ‘within seconds,’ warns Iran
‘In the event of another mistake, they must expect a more swift and strong response,’ Tehran asserts, adding that the response would not be in days or hours but within seconds
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Ali Bagheri Kani, issued a stern warning Monday, stating that any new military action by Israel against his country would prompt a response “within seconds.”
Speaking to state TV, Kani, also Iran’s Chief Negotiator in nuclear talks, emphasized that another Israeli “mistake” would be met with a swift and decisive reaction.
These remarks come amid heightened speculation that Israel is preparing for retaliation following an Iranian attack late Saturday, involving hundreds of drones and missiles. This marked the first direct attack on Israel.
Israel’s April 1 attack was a ‘strategic mistake’ that ‘provided legitimacy for Iran’
Iran’s military action was retaliation for an April 1 attack on its diplomatic compound in the Syrian capital Damascus, which killed seven Iranian military officers, including two high-ranking commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for Syria and Lebanon.
Kani labeled the Israeli attack a “strategic mistake,” that “provided legitimacy for a serious test of Iran’s military and defense capabilities.”
“If there is any rationality in the Zionist regime, they should not repeat their mistake with another mistake,” he said, referring to Israel.
Foreign Minister conveyed this message during a phone call with British Foreign Minister David Cameron, highlighting the role of Israel in the crises in West Asia.
Iran’s attack on Israel was ‘necessary and appropriate’
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani, addressing the press on Monday morning, described Iran’s attack on Israel as “necessary and appropriate” and aimed at military targets.
He said the attack was in response to Israel’s “repeated aggression,” including the attack on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus, adding that the Iranian military acted “professionally and responsibly.”
He attributed the necessity of military action to the “lack of action” by the United Nations Security Council and the “irresponsible behavior” of the United States, Britain and France.
