MHP Chairperson Devlet Bahceli emphasizes national sovereignty and electoral clarity while addressing global tensions in the party meeting

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairperson Devlet Bahceli addressed critical topics during his group meeting, emphasizing the fundamental principle of sovereignty belonging unequivocally to the country.

Bahceli underscored the significant differences between general and local elections, warning against the grave error of conflating the two.

He stated that confusing the distinct nature of these electoral processes would be a grave mistake, emphasizing the need for clarity in understanding their roles within the democratic framework.

‘There is only one power in Türkiye’

Addressing the political landscape, Bahceli emphasized: “There is only one power in Türkiye.”

He refuted claims of local powers, asserting that the sole authority in Türkiye lies with the Presidency Cabinet.

Bahceli clarified that Türkiye’s governance structure is rooted in this centralized power, highlighting the significance of recognizing this fundamental aspect of the country’s political system.

Reflecting on recent electoral results, Bahceli touched upon the MHP’s performance in the Genel Meclis (Provincial General Assembly) elections, stating that the party garnered an electoral share of 16.62% across 51 provinces.

Iran-Israel tension is ‘theatrically orchestrated’

Turning to global affairs, Bahceli commented on the tensions between Iran and Israel, labeling the situation as a theatrically orchestrated distraction from the plight of Gaza. He urged for a shift in focus toward more significant geopolitical matters.

On a final note, Bahceli highlighted the need for diplomatic resolution between Kyiv and Moscow, cautioning against disseminating narratives that could potentially lead to World War III.

He emphasized the catastrophic nature of global conflicts, stating unequivocally, “A new world war is a crime.”
