Erdogan convenes presidential cabinet with focus on Iran-Israel tensions
Presidential cabinet convenes to address the pressing Iran-Israel tensions, ongoing counterterrorism operations and economic program evaluations
After a break of approximately one and a half months, the presidential cabinet gathered to address a packed agenda.
The most pressing topic of discussion in the meeting, led by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is the escalating Iran-Israel tensions.
Türkiye closely monitors developments in the Middle East.
The Cabinet meeting will include evaluations of the ongoing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the heightened tension in the region following Iran’s move toward Israel.
Discussions will also touch on the security threats posed to Türkiye by the situation in the region. Steps to achieve an urgent cease-fire in Gaza and ensure uninterrupted humanitarian aid to Palestinians will be explored.
Another essential agenda item is Türkiye’s counterterrorism operations beyond its borders. The ongoing operations to eliminate terror targets in northern Syria and Iraq will be discussed in the Cabinet meeting.
Preparations for President Erdogan’s official visit to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, later this month will also be on the agenda.
The Cabinet meeting will also evaluate the current status of the economy program implemented within the framework of the Medium-Term Program and the 12th Development Plan.
Additional measures to permanently reduce inflation, a key program objective, will be considered.
The Cabinet is expected to discuss the allocation of positions and the schedule for the first teacher appointments of the year.
