Türkiye’s tea exports reach nearly $15 million from January to July
Türkiye’s tea exports have reached $14.89 million from January to July this year. Over these seven months, Turkish tea was exported to 114 countries, autonomous regions, and free zones.
Saffet Kalyoncu, chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, highlighted that the country earned $14.89 million from the export of 3,126 tons of tea. Belgium was the largest buyer, importing $5.25 million worth of Turkish tea, followed by the United Kingdom with $2.2 million and Germany with $1.13 million.
Kalyoncu noted the increasing diversity in export destinations, with new markets including Dubai, Mauritania, Equatorial Guinea, Tunisia, Egypt, South Sudan, Cuba, Burundi, Central African Republic, Namibia, Sao Tome and Principe, Venezuela, Djibouti, Colombia, Cambodia, and Slovenia.
He also mentioned that 47% of the tea exports came from Rize, which exported 1,983 tons of tea to 24 countries, earning $6.9 million. Kalyoncu expressed optimism for even better export figures by the end of the year.
