Mourinho’s Fenerbahce score 5 goals, opposition goalkeeper under fire
Fenerbahce, led by Jose Mourinho, took on Caykur Rizespor in the 3rd week of the Trendyol Super Lig, securing a decisive 5-0 victory at the Caykur Didi Stadium.
Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos, known as Fred, led the charge for the yellow and navy-blue team, scoring in the 15th, 60th and 64th minutes.
Edin Dzeko added another goal in the 53rd minute, while Alikulov’s own goal in the 66th minute sealed the win for Fenerbahce.
Rizespor’s goalkeeper under scrutiny
Goalkeeper Gokhan Akkan, who conceded several questionable goals, was protested by his own fans.
On social media, Akkan’s record of conceding 20 goals in the last four matches against Fenerbahce became a hot topic.
Sports commentators also highlighted Akkan’s mistakes, pointing out that Fenerbahce’s away matches against Caykur Rizespor have become the easiest fixtures for the team each season.
Fenerbahce pays tribute to Daum
Fenerbahce players took to the field with a banner reading “You Will Always Be in Our Hearts” in memory of their former coach Christoph Daum, who recently passed away.
Daum, who died because of lung cancer, won the Super League championship with Fenerbahce in the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons.
He left Fenerbahce in July 2006. He returned to Fenerbahce in 2009 and opened the season with the Super Cup championship.
He finished the 2009-2010 season in second place, one point behind Bursaspor.
Daum also coached Besiktas and Bursaspor in Türkiye.
