Interior ministry conducts nationwide anti-drug op, arrests 268 suspects

Turkish forces arrest 268 suspects and seize a substantial amount of narcotics in the Narkocelik-12 operation coordinated by the interior ministry

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 268 suspects were apprehended in simultaneous Narkocelik-12 operations conducted in 41 provinces.

The operation coordinated by the Directorate General of Security Narcotics Department targeted drug manufacturers, distributors, and street dealers across 41 provinces, resulting in the seizure of 856 kilograms of narcotics and 795,000 pills, Yerlikaya announced on his social media account. 

Yerlikaya also disclosed that 268 drug traffickers and street dealers were captured during the operations, which involved 558 teams, 1635 personnel, and 44 narcotics detection dogs.

The operations were conducted in Gaziantep, Nevsehir, Izmir, Mersin, Istanbul, Kayseri, Adana, Sanliurfa, Bursa, Antalya, Osmaniye, Bitlis, Denizli, Kocaeli, Konya, Kirklareli, Edirne, Eskisehir, Van, Tekirdag, Corum, Ankara, Elazig, Hatay, Mus, Samsun, Diyarbakir, Bolu, Amasya, Kars, Zonguldak, Malatya, Sakarya, Aydin, Bingol, Çanakkale, Isparta, Kutahya, Mugla, Tokat, and Karabuk.

Minister Yerlikaya commended the security forces who conducted the operation, emphasizing the government’s determination to combat drug trafficking and protect the youth and future generations from the scourge of narcotics. He vowed that drug traffickers would not evade justice and that law enforcement would remain vigilant in their pursuit.
