The Israeli army announced that around 100 fighter jets participated in an attack on Lebanon this morning, claiming to have neutralized missile launch sites capable of firing thousands of rockets.

According to the Israeli military spokesperson, the operation targeted missile launchers identified by Northern Command and Israeli military intelligence, which were positioned to strike both northern and central Israel.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that most of Hezbollah’s missile launchers were aimed at northern Israel, with some positioned to target central areas. They reported hitting 40 launch sites during the operation.

According to Yedioth Ahronoth, the IDF has prepared plans for further strikes on multiple locations within Lebanon, which have been presented to the government. The military indicated that they would act according to the political leadership’s directives.

Additionally, Israeli Army Radio reported that Hezbollah was planning to launch around 6,000 missiles and drones targeting strategic sites and that the IDF had struck approximately 200 locations within Lebanon.

The escalation comes after Israel announced the start of its offensive on Lebanon. Meanwhile, Hezbollah declared it was retaliating against Israel in response to the assassination of its commander Fuad Shukur in Beirut.
