Protesters rally in Dublin ahead of US congressional visit to Irish parliament
In Dublin, dozens gathered in front of the Irish Parliament building ahead of a meeting with U.S. Congress members. The protest, in support of Palestine, featured signs that read “End the Genocide,” “Palestinian Babies Are Not Targets,” and “Nakba Never Ended.” Baby doll toys wrapped in cloth were displayed to represent murdered Palestinian infants.
Demonstrators, wearing masks of U.S. President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, criticized the Middle East policies of both leaders.
The protesters chanted slogans and held banners to express their opposition to the handling of the Palestinian issue and human rights violations in the region. They called for justice and peace in the Gaza Strip.
Jack Spicer from New Zealand, a participant in the protest, told an AA reporter that it was unacceptable for war criminals and U.S. terrorism to converge in Ireland, a country known for its strong resistance.
He stated, “We are here to support Palestine against the Zionist terrorist state of Israel. We stand with the Palestinian people and oppose genocide, weapons, and the U.S. military’s support for the terrorist state of Israel. We will stand here and be with the Palestinian people.”
