Tesla cuts prices in Türkiye and worldwide
Tesla, the electric car manufacturer whose sales in Europe and Türkiye have fallen significantly, has made an ambitious price move and lowered the price tag of the Model Y produced in Germany by $2,100-$3,200 in one day.
Tesla, the U.S. manufacturer whose sales charts are slowing down globally, reduced the prices of Model Y, which is produced in Germany and defined as Elon Musk’s secret pawn, by 2,000 euros to 3,000 euros ($2,100-$3,200) in one day.
In addition, Tesla started taking orders with a $1,500 deposit for the Model Y, which it opened for pre-order in Türkiye.
Tesla, recently in the news for layoffs, has implemented a new sales strategy to compete with Chinese automakers. Particularly in Europe, Tesla has made price adjustments to be more competitive. It appears a similar pricing strategy is being applied in the Turkish market.
After a strong initial showing in Türkiye with 10,000 online orders in the first week of April 2023, Tesla paused sales to manage deliveries. This led to a significant drop in interest by the end of 2023. To address this, Tesla implemented a price adjustment in the first quarter of 2024, hoping to reignite sales that had fallen to just 375 orders.
