Renowned footballer Wilfried Zaha reveals Galatasaray fan’s flare nearly set his face on fire
Wilfried Zaha, a renowned football player who is close to departing from Galatasaray, recently recounted a disturbing encounter with a supporter.
While at the team’s pre-season camp in Austria, the player shared a disturbing incident involving a Galatasaray supporter who threw a flare at his face.
This incident prompted the player to make some strong remarks.
Zaha, who joined Galatasaray with high hopes but has been unable to fulfill them, took to social media to express his disappointment.
The Ivorian winger, with experience at top English clubs such as Crystal Palace and Manchester United and a market value of up to €55 million, expressed the following statements:
“Why does my potential departure from Galatasaray upset people so much?” Zaha asked.
What’s important is that the team performs well and wins. Whether I’m there or not, the team keeps winning.

Describing the flare incident, Zaha said: “Since I arrived, there have been many Galatasaray fans who have shown me love. But there are also a lot of people who haven’t shown any affection. During our pre-season match in Austria, where only Galatasaray supporters were present, someone threw a flare at me, almost hitting my face. There were no rival fans there, only Galatasaray supporters. If I hadn’t moved back, the flare could have burned my face. And then they say they love me.”
When asked why he hasn’t been getting much playing time, Zaha replied: “If you want to know why I’m not playing, ask the management. I’m not here to discuss that. There are some things beyond my control.”
