Violent attacks by Israeli settlers leave Palestinians injured
At least four Palestinians wounded in an attack by illegal Israeli settlers, reportedly supported by the Israeli army, in Burqa village, east of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that at least four Palestinians were wounded in an attack by illegal Israeli settlers, reportedly supported by the Israeli army, in the village of Burqa, east of Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank.
The ministry said that medical teams at the Palestinian Medical Complex in Ramallah were attending to three people who were moderately and severely wounded after being hit by live bullets in the chest and one person who was wounded in the hand as a result of an attack by occupation forces and settlers.
Damage in Burga Village
An eyewitness detailed the attack, saying that settlers targeted Burqa and set fire to a mobile sheep pen. Residents then confronted the attackers but were met with tear gas canisters fired by the Israeli army.
The violence caused widespread damage, including the burning of a large sheep pen, the destruction of feed, the death of livestock and damage to vehicles. Israeli army reinforcements were reportedly deployed inside the town and around its north-western perimeter, preventing residents from extinguishing the fires.
Casualty toll in West Bank
In another development in the south of the West Bank, the Israeli army reportedly surrounded a mosque near Bethlehem. According to local news sources, Israeli occupation forces surrounded a mosque in Harmala village, southeast of Bethlehem, and prevented Muslims from leaving the mosque.
The ongoing conflict in the occupied West Bank has caused serious casualties. The Ministry of Health reports that at least 485 Palestinians have been killed and more than 4,900 wounded by Israeli army forces and illegal settlers since October last year.
In addition, Israel is facing genocide charges at the International Court of Justice following an interim ruling in January urging Israel to cease its acts of genocide and to provide humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza, where some 34,100 people have been killed.
