Israel urges UK, France to join war offensive if Iran attacks
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz told his French and British counterparts Friday that his country expects support “in attacking” Iran if it strikes Israel.
“If Iran attacks, we expect the coalition to join Israel not only in defense but also in attacking significant targets in Iran,” Katz told his French and U.K. counterparts during their visit to Israel.
Israel is on high alert following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Iran is expected to retaliate; Supreme Leader Khamenei has displayed red flags at the Jamkaran Mosque.
Israeli intelligence reports suggest that Iran may respond soon and Hezbollah was expected to launch an attack on Aug. 12. Israel is preparing for a large-scale attack and concerns are growing about Iran’s resolve.
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has highlighted the unprecedented threat posed by Iran and Hezbollah.
