Tunc Soyer, the former Mayor of Izmir, has confirmed his intention to lead the Republican People’s Party (CHP) following a dinner with the party’s previous chairman, Kemal Kilicdaroglu.

Soyer expressed his commitment to continuing the fight for Türkiye’s bright future, emphasizing that the position of party leader is one of the most critical roles in this struggle.

In his statement, Soyer highlighted the importance of working for the country’s future and noted that being considered for the role of CHP leader without actively seeking it is a great honor.

He also pledged to continue his political career until his last breath, working with those who share his vision for improving life in Türkiye.

Meanwhile, Kemal Kilicdaroglu has also maintained his stance on the CHP leadership, stating that he only became party leader at the request of the delegates and that he would consider the role again if asked by them. However, he expressed a desire to stay out of leadership discussions and let the party’s delegates decide its future.
