U.S. President Joe Biden on Wednesday hosted the first Creator Economy Conference at the White House.

The president met with 100 digital content creators and industry professionals and discussed data privacy, fair pay and artificial intelligence (AI).

The topics also included the effects of social media on mental health, according to the White House.

“You are the future,” Biden told the influencers at the event hosted by the White House’s Office of Digital Strategy.

“You are the new possibilities,” he said. “You break through in ways that I think are going to change the entire dynamic of the way in which we communicate.”

The president said his grandchildren do not “read the same newspapers or watch the same television” as he does, adding: “They listen to all of you. They listen to all of you.”

“The innovation and entrepreneurial spirit in this room is what makes America America,” he noted.
