Main opposition’s Ozel rallies CHP leaders: ‘Be ready for elections anytime’
Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Ozgur Ozel reportedly urged party organization leaders to “be ready for elections at any moment” during a provincial chairpersons’ meeting.
Ozel, who has consistently been pushing for early elections with the slogan “If there’s no livelihood, there’s an election,” highlighted that the CHP emerged as the leading party in the March 31 local elections and continues to lead in polls.
According to Mehtap Gokdemir’s report from Milliyet daily, provincial chairpersons were informed that a “more active period” would begin after September, and they were instructed to prepare accordingly.
In response to Ozel’s call, party organizations have ramped up their efforts, operating as though elections could be held “tomorrow.”
‘We are in field’
Provincial chairpersons stated, “We are in the field, working as if elections could happen tomorrow. We are ready for anything.”
CHP insiders believe that elections will not occur as scheduled, predicting that the ballot box will appear before 2028, with possible dates in fall 2025 or spring 2026.
