Who is Arda Guler, also called Turkish Messi?

His journey began in Ankara, where he played for Genclerbirligi before moving to Fenerbahce’s youth academy in 2019. By 2021, he had earned a professional contract, and just a year later, he became the youngest goal-scorer in Fenerbahce’s history.

Guler’s performances during the 2023-2024 season were remarkable. Despite an early injury that delayed his Real Madrid debut, he made a significant impact once on the field. Scoring six goals in only 330 minutes of La Liga action, Guler quickly demonstrated why he is regarded as one of the most promising young players in the world.

His ability to perform under pressure was evident during Euro 2024, where he played a crucial role in helping Türkiye reach the quarter-finals. German stadiums buzzed with excitement every time Guler touched the ball, proving his exceptional skills.

Turkish football star Arda Guler’s impact on Real Madrid

Guler’s move to Real Madrid in July 2023 for €20 million (approximately $22 million) plus potential add-ons was a pivotal moment in his career. Although injuries initially kept him off the pitch, Guler made an immediate impact upon his return.

In just 330 minutes of La Liga play, he scored six goals, becoming the fastest player in Real Madrid’s history to reach that milestone. His performances earned him the nickname “Turkish Messi,” a title that reflects his playstyle and immense potential.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has recognized Guler’s importance to the team, stating: “I want you to be ready, you will be important, and unless something strange happens, you will get a lot of time against Atalanta.”

Ancelotti’s confidence in Guler is evident as the young star prepares to take on a key role in the UEFA Super Cup match against Atalanta.

Guler’s market value has also seen a significant increase, rising from €30 million to €45 million ($49.5 million) following his successful Euro 2024 campaign.

As the new La Liga season approaches, all eyes are on Guler to see how he will continue to develop at Real Madrid. His performances at Euro 2024 have solidified his status as a rising star, with many expecting him to play a crucial role in Madrid’s upcoming matches.

Guler’s strong finish last season, coupled with his outstanding preseason, has positioned him as a key player for the future.

Real Madrid’s decision to keep him despite loan offers from other clubs highlights their belief in his potential.
