US sergeant admits to selling military secrets to China

U.S. Army Sergeant Korbein Schultz has admitted to selling documents containing critical military capabilities, including missile systems, to China for $42,000.
The U.S. Department of Justice announced that Schultz, who also served as an intelligence analyst, confessed to selling highly classified military secrets to a suspected Chinese agent.
Prosecutors revealed that since June 2022, Schultz earned approximately $42,000 by selling sensitive U.S. military information to China.
Charges against Schultz include conspiracy to disclose national defense information, unlicensed export of defense materials, and bribery of a public official.
Court documents show that Schultz provided intelligence on lessons learned from the Ukraine war, potential defense plans for Taiwan, Chinese military tactics, and U.S. military satellite capabilities.
FBI Deputy Assistant Director Robert Wells stated, “Governments like China are aggressively targeting our military personnel and national security information. We will do everything in our power to ensure this information is protected from hostile foreign governments.”
Schultz’s sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 23, 2025.
