Turkish Airlines passenger numbers decreased by 2.6 percent in July

Turkish Airlines (THY) experienced a 2.6% decrease in passenger numbers in July 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, according to a statement made to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
Despite the decline in overall passenger traffic, the airline saw an increase in other key performance metrics.
Growth in international transfers
The number of international transfer passengers grew by 6.8%, rising from 2.7 million in July 2023 to 2.9 million in July 2024. This uptick highlights the airline’s continuing strength in the international market, despite the overall decline in passenger numbers.
The passenger load factor for July 2024 fell by 0.5 percentage points compared to July 2023, settling at 85.2%. International flights reported a load factor of 84.3%, while domestic flights achieved a higher rate of 93.3%.
Cargo and mail transportation also saw significant growth. The total volume transported in July 2024 rose by 20.7% to 172,100 tons, up from 142,600 tons in the same month of the previous year.
January-July 2024 overview
From January to July 2024, Turkish Airlines transported 48.9 million passengers, marking a 3.5% increase from the 47.3 million passengers carried during the same period in 2023. The international transfer passenger count for this period rose by 7.6%, reaching 18.2 million, compared to 16.9 million in the previous year.
The passenger load factor for the first seven months of 2024 decreased by 0.8 percentage points, ending at 81.5%. International flights had a load factor of 81%, while domestic flights reached 86%.
As of the end of July 2024, Turkish Airlines’ fleet comprised 458 aircraft. These traffic results include consolidated data from the Turkish Airlines main brand and AJet.
