Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, made significant remarks regarding the normalization of relations between Türkiye and Syria.

We support the process of improving relations between the two countries based on mutual recognition of territorial integrity and sovereignty. We want this process to continue and for the leaders of both countries to meet.

Bogdanov emphasized that a meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Syrian President Bashar Assad requires careful preparation, stating, “Such a meeting requires serious preparation. We are ready to organize a trilateral meeting in Moscow with officials from Damascus and Ankara.”

Bogdanov also mentioned ongoing communication with Iranian and Iraqi officials on the matter, noting, “Iran and Iraq are also in favor of improving relations between Syria and Türkiye. This will positively affect the situation in and around Syria.”
