US to provide $3.5B in military aid to Israel amid Gaza war
The United States has announced it will provide $3.5 billion in military aid to Israel, aimed at bolstering its defense capabilities amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
The aid package, which includes American weapons and military equipment, was confirmed by the U.S. State Department in a notification to Congress. This financial assistance is part of the $14 billion military aid package approved by Congress in April.
Israel has faced international condemnation for its military actions in Gaza since Oct. 7, resulting in nearly 40,000 Palestinian deaths and the displacement of nearly all of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents.
In a related move, the Biden administration recently deployed 22 F-22 Raptor fighter jets to the region, citing increased tensions between Israel, Lebanon, and Iran.
Since the onset of the conflict, the U.S. has consistently provided military, economic, and diplomatic support to Israel.
