Alleged PKK/KCK German cell leader arrested in Istanbul operation

Saim Cakmak, purported leader of PKK/KCK’s German cell, arrested in Istanbul crackdown led by national intelligence and local police

In an operation carried out by the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and the Istanbul Police Department, Saim Cakmak, one of the alleged executives of the PKK/KCK’s organization in Germany, was arrested and sent to prison in Istanbul.

According to information obtained from security sources, Cakmak was apprehended in Istanbul during an operation conducted by the MIT and Istanbul Provincial Security Directorate teams.

Cakmak, identified as actively involved in overseas activities of the terrorist organization PKK/KCK, was referred to the courthouse after being arrested and processed at the police station.

The PKK has waged a terror campaign against Türkiye for over 35 years, resulting in the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.

The organization is recognized as a terrorist group by Türkiye, the U.S. and the European Union.

Türkiye has consistently raised concerns regarding the tolerance extended to the PKK and its supporters across Europe.
