Türkiye’s Firmament Dome capable of challenging Israel’s Iron Dome
Aselsan’s CEO Mehmet Akyol says Türkiye’s domestically crafted Firmament Dome aerial defense system is capable of safeguarding the entire country
Aselsan’s Firmament Dome is capable of challenging Israel’s Iron Dome, a defense system crafted and employed by Israel around 10 years ago, Aselsan’s CEO Ahmet Akyol said.
Israel had intended to craft the Iron Dome with its resources. However, after commencing mass production, it had to rely on $500 million in assistance from the U.S.
When comparing the Firmament Dome to Israel’s Iron Dome, Akyol said, “Firmament Dome is just as capable as the Iron Dome. Our aim is to extend its scope across the entire nation.”
When questioned about the defense system project that Aselsan aims to integrate into the Turkish army’s inventory and how it compares to Israel’s Iron Dome, Akyol stated, “I cannot pinpoint any particular aspect that puts Iron Dome ahead of us or where our system falls short. Our goal is to deploy and complete installations across all of Türkiye in the near future, and I can confidently say that we have gained significant expertise.”
