Series of earthquakes shake Türkiye’s Adana, no damage reported
A 4.6 magnitude earthquake struck the Kozan district of Adana at 05:32 AM today, followed by two additional tremors with magnitudes of 4.5 and 4.0. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that no negative reports have been received.
Adana, already reeling from significant damage due to the “disaster of the century” earthquakes on Feb. 6, 2023. in Kahramanmaras, experienced new tremors this morning.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported that the initial 4.6 magnitude earthquake in Kozan occurred at 05:32 AM at a depth of 7.0 kilometers. This tremor was felt in neighboring provinces and districts.
Following this, two more quakes struck Kozan at 05:33 AM and 05:34 AM with magnitudes of 4.5 and 4.0 respectively. At 05:58 AM, the district was again shaken by a 3.7 magnitude quake.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya made a statement on social media following the earthquakes. Minister Yerlikaya said:
“A 4.6, 4.5, and 4 magnitude series of earthquakes have occurred in Kozan, Adana. Our teams from AFAD and related institutions continue their field surveys in response to the earthquake felt in neighboring provinces. As of now, there are no negative reports. We are monitoring the developments.”
