Türkiye apprehends 4,517 fugitives, some wanted for over 10 years
According to a statement made by Minister Yerlikaya on his social media account, “Operation Circle-20” was conducted in 81 provinces in the last 5 days targeting individuals wanted for various crimes.
These operations resulted in the detention of 4,517 fugitives with arrest warrants. It was determined that 4,489 of these individuals had been wanted for up to 5 years, 19 for 5-10 years, and 9 for 10 years or more.
731 of those detained had outstanding warrants for drug-related crimes, 698 for theft, 458 for smuggling and organized crime, 454 for fraud, 180 for robbery, 131 for sexual offenses, 124 for manslaughter, and 39 for terrorism-related crimes.
Yerlikaya made the following statements regarding the operation:
“I want our beloved nation to know that we will never allow fugitive criminals to roam our streets. We did not and will not permit them to disrupt our families’ peace. Provincial Gendarmerie Commands, Provincial Security Directorates, and the Coast Guard Command carried out operations across 81 provinces, apprehending these individuals through road searches, raids on homes and workplaces, identity checks, then bringing them to justice. I congratulate our governors, district governors, Provincial Gendarmerie Commanders, Provincial Police Chiefs, Coast Guard Command, and all police and gendarmerie who participated in the operations. The prayers of our nation are with you.”
