Türkiye to join genocide case against Israel at the Hague
Türkiye will file to join the genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, the Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced on Monday.
“We will submit our prepared file to join the genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice at The Hague on Wednesday,” Hakan Fidan said during a news conference in Cairo, alongside his Egyptian counterpart.
Fidan criticized the international community’s response to Israel’s actions, suggesting a double standard when compared to the condemnation of the Russia-Ukraine war. He accused world leaders of playing “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” regarding Israel’s ongoing occupation of Palestinian territories.
Last week, Israel reportedly assassinated Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh, who Fidan referred to as the “chief negotiator in the Gaza cease-fire talks.” Fidan described the killing as a “treacherous assassination.”
Fidan also called on Israel’s allies to restrain the country’s actions, warning that the region could no longer tolerate Tel Aviv’s “provocations,” including its recent attacks in Lebanon and Iran. These actions, he said, pose a risk of escalating the conflict further.
The Turkish foreign minister emphasized that both Ankara and Cairo have been working tirelessly to prevent the spread of war in the region.
