Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Cairo as part of his official visit to Egypt.
This visit follows an invitation from his Egyptian counterpart, Bedr Abdulati, and aims to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.
Key discussions: Gaza and regional tensions
The primary focus of Fidan’s discussions with President Sisi revolved around recent developments in Gaza, humanitarian aid efforts, and the escalating tensions in the region.
These critical issues underscore the importance of cooperation and dialogue between Türkiye and Egypt in addressing regional challenges.
During his meeting with Foreign Minister Abdulati, Fidan also discussed preparations for the first High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting, set to take place during President Sisi’s upcoming visit to Türkiye. This council aims to formalize and enhance strategic ties between the two countries.
Discussions included evaluations of nearly 20 agreements expected to be signed during the upcoming visit. The visit also covered potential long-term cooperation opportunities in various sectors, including energy, health, tourism, and defense industries. These discussions highlight the mutual interest in fostering comprehensive and sustainable partnerships.
