Justice Minister Tunc urges accountability for alleged Israeli war crimes in Palestine
Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc calls for swift action against alleged Israeli war crimes in Palestine, stressing accountability at the International Criminal Court
Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc emphasized the urgency for the International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor to swiftly proceed with the conversion of a file against Israel into a formal case.
During his speech at the Inter-Parliamentary Jerusalem Platform 5th Conference, Tunc asserted that Israeli officials, including Netanyahu, must be held accountable for alleged war crimes, aggression and genocide.
He lamented the ongoing human tragedy in Palestine, labeling recent attacks as crimes against humanity and war crimes.
Tunc highlighted the numerous United Nations resolutions condemning Israel’s actions and stressed that Israel’s disregard for international decisions and systematic human rights violations deem it akin to a terrorist organization.
Regarding the right to life in Palestine, Tunc questioned the silence of Western advocates, pointing to the violation of basic human rights amid the conflict.
Tunc also criticized the lack of action from the International Criminal Court (ICC) despite evidence submitted by various parties, including Türkiye’s Anadolu Agency (AA) through ‘The Evidence’ documentary and book.
In response to a social media post by the Israeli foreign minister, Tunc condemned attempts to overshadow alleged crimes committed by Israel, asserting that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state remains crucial for resolving the conflict.
He reiterated Türkiye’s unwavering support for establishing such a state and pledged to continue advocating for it on various platforms.
