Bedirhan Sener, son of former Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener, fatally shot his grandmother, Leyla Cetiner, after holding her hostage in their home. Following the incident, Bedirhan Sener was taken into custody by police.

Abdullatif Sener commented on the situation, saying, “My son, who has psychological issues, did not even realize he was shooting his grandmother.”

The incident took place at their residence in Ayranci neighborhood, Ankara. A dispute between Bedirhan Sener and his grandmother escalated into a violent confrontation, during which Bedirhan held Leyla Cetiner at gunpoint.

Abdullatif Sener alerted the police from outside the house. Numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene, including a special operations police team due to the severity of the situation.

During the standoff, Bedirhan Sener shot Leyla Cetiner. He was subsequently arrested by the police, while Cetiner was taken to a private hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries despite medical efforts.
