Ancient city of Myrleia’s mosaics revived in Türkiye
The mosaics of the ancient city of Myrleia in the Mudanya district of Bursa have undergone extensive restoration and conservation.
Mudanya Mayor Deniz Dalgic inspected the work on-site and announced that the excavation area will be expanded and the artifacts will be opened to the public.
Mudanya Municipality has reached an important milestone in its project to preserve the natural, cultural, and historical values of the 2,700-year-old Myrleia Ancient City.
The restoration and conservation of the mosaics, adorned with floral motifs, were completed with the scientific contributions of the Archaeology Department of Bursa Uludag University.
Mayor Dalgic highlighted the significant historical value of Myrleia Ancient City for both Türkiye and world history.
He stated, “We will ensure regular maintenance of the restored and conserved mosaics. We will expand the excavation area and make the necessary arrangements to present these valuable artifacts to the public. Our goal is to contribute to our country’s tourism and preserve Myrleia Ancient City for future generations.”
The new arrangements aim to open Myrleia Ancient City to tourism and share its historical and cultural values with a broader audience.
