Türkiye witnessed a significant boost in tourism revenue and visitor numbers during the first half of 2024, according to the Turkish Statistical Office (TurkStat) on Wednesday.

Türkiye’s tourism revenue increased by 9.3%, reaching $23.66 billion in the January-June period.

This growth reflects the country’s appeal as a top travel destination and its efforts to enhance tourism infrastructure and services.

Surge in visitor numbers

The number of tourists visiting Türkiye rose by 13.2% year-on-year, totaling 25.1 million in the first half of 2024.

Despite the rise in overall revenue and visitor numbers, the average expenditure per tourist decreased by 3.4%, amounting to $942 per capita.

This slight dip indicates a trend toward more budget-conscious travel.

In the second quarter of 2024, Türkiye’s tourism revenue grew by 11.8%, while the number of tourists increased by 15% to 16 million.
