Former U.S. President and presidential candidate Donald Trump criticized the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics on Monday, calling it a “disgrace.”

“I thought that the opening ceremony was a disgrace, actually,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News.

The 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony faced backlash for featuring a performance depicting Leonardo da Vinci’s painting “The Last Supper” with a “drag queen” element, which many viewed as disrespectful to religious beliefs.

Trump stated that if he had any influence over the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, he would ensure there was no such depiction of “The Last Supper”.

The French Bishops’ Conference also condemned the ceremony, stating it “included scenes of mockery and derision of Christianity.”
