Heavy rains cause landslides in India; at least 54 dead

According to the Hindustan Times, Kerala state officials have reported that following heavy rain in the Wayanad region, multiple landslides have occurred, and they suspect that dozens of people are trapped under the debris.
Officials have stated that, according to initial reports, 54 people have died in the landslides, and rescue and evacuation operations are ongoing.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared on X, “My prayers are with the injured and those who have lost loved ones.”
Modi also mentioned that he has been in contact with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and stated that they will provide support for “any kind of assistance” related to the disaster.
