Turkish security forces nab 6 Daesh suspects in counterterrorism operation
Turkish security forces nab six out of nine suspects in a counterterrorism operation targeting the terrorist organization Daesh, according to a statement from the Mersin Provincial Police Department Tuesday.
The operation, led by Counterterrorism and Intelligence units, aimed to apprehend individuals involved in armed activities within the Daesh terrorist organization, recruitment efforts aligned with the organization’s ideology and attempts to flee abroad.
Nine suspects were detained during the operation conducted at identified addresses. Following necessary procedures at the police station, all nine suspects were referred to the judiciary.
Subsequently, six of the suspects were arrested by the duty magistrate, while three others were deported.
This successful operation underscores Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and maintain regional security.
