Türkiye rescues 94 migrants pushed back by Greece in Izmir
Turkish Coast Guard rescued 94 irregular migrants who were pushed back to Turkish territorial waters by Greek forces in the Cesme and Seferihisar districts of Izmir.
According to a statement on the Coast Guard Command’s website, a vessel was dispatched to the area after receiving information about a group of irregular migrants in life rafts off the coast of Cesme.
The teams rescued a total of 66 irregular migrants, including 17 children, who were found in life rafts after being pushed back into Turkish waters by Greek forces.
Additionally, off the coast of Seferihisar, 28 irregular migrants, including 8 children, were rescued from a rubber boat Greek forces had also pushed back.
After processing, the irregular migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.
