Turkish athletes to compete in multiple events at 2024 Paris Olympics
Eighteen Turkish athletes will compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Saturday.
The day’s events will include the start of artistic gymnastics qualifiers, with the Turkish team of Adem Asil, Ferhat Arican, Ibrahim Colak, Ahmet Onder, and Emre Dodanli scheduled to perform at 9 p.m. local time at the Bercy Arena.
In shooting, the 10-meter air pistol qualifiers will take place at Chateauroux Shooting Center, where Ismail Keles, Yusuf Dikec, Simal Yilmaz, and Sevval Ilayda Tarhan will compete starting at 10 a.m. (Türkiye’s local time).
In boxing, the round of 32 matches will be held at North Paris Arena. In the women’s 54 kg category, Hatice Akbas will face Charley Davison from Great Britain at 9 p.m., and Gizem Ozer will compete against Alessia Mesiano from Italy at 9:48 p.m. In the men’s 80 kg category, Kaan Aykutsun will go up against Salvatore Cavallaro from Italy at 11:08 p.m.
In fencing, Enver Yildirim will face Italian Luca Curatoli in the epee category at Grand Palais at 1:55 p.m. (Türkiye’s local time).
In judo at Champ de Mars Arena, Tugce Beder will compete against French Shirine Boukli in the women’s 48 kg category in the round of 32 at 11 a.m. Salih Yildiz will compete in the men’s 60 kg category in the round of 16, with his opponent determined after the round of 32 matches.
In table tennis, Sibel Altinkaya will face Ni Xia Lian from Luxembourg in the qualifying round at South Paris Arena at 11:15 p.m. (Türkiye’s local time).
In rowing, Elis Ozbay will compete in the men’s double sculls at Vaires Sur Marne Nautical starting at 11:12 a.m. (Türkiye’s local time).
In swimming, Berkay Omer Ogretir will compete in the 100-meter breaststroke at Paris La Defense Arena starting at noon. (Türkiye’s local time).
