72 arrested in operation against Daesh Turkish Police Department of Special Operations officers are conducting counterterrorism operations

In a sweeping nationwide operation, Turkish authorities have arrested 72 individuals linked to the Daesh terrorist group.

The operation, codenamed GURZ-1, was conducted across 13 provinces, according to an announcement by Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya on his social media account.

‘We will not allow any terrorists to operate freely’

Yerlikaya emphasized the government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism, stating, “We will not allow any terrorists to operate freely. Our sole objective is to continue our struggle relentlessly until the last terrorist is neutralized, with your prayers and support.”

The coordinated operations involved the General Directorate of Security’s intelligence and counterterrorism departments along with local police forces. The raids took place in Ankara, Adana, Antalya, Corum, Elazig, Gaziantep, Hatay, Istanbul, Kırıkkale, Kilis, Mersin, Şanlıurfa, and Trabzon.

Authorities seized a significant amount of foreign and Turkish currency as well as digital materials during the operations.
