Türkiye’s honey exports reached $17.24 million in the first half of 2024, marking a 3% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to data compiled by the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKIB), Türkiye’s honey found buyers in 45 countries, autonomous regions, and free zones from January to June.

In the first six months of 2023, honey exports were valued at $16.79 million. This year, the figure rose by 3%, reflecting the growing demand for Turkish honey on the global market.

Top export destinations

The United States, Germany and Canada were the top three destinations for Turkish honey in the first half of the year. The United States imported honey worth $6.32 million, Germany imported $4.48 million and Canada $812,664.

Türkiye also expanded its honey exports to new markets compared to the same period last year, including Slovenia, Hungary, Iraq, Bangladesh, Czechia, Morocco, Albania and Nepal.

Sustaining growth in honey exports

Saffet Kalyoncu, chairman of the DKIB, emphasized the significance of honey as one of Türkiye’s key production and export items.

“Ensuring sustainability in honey exports is crucial,” Kalyoncu said in an interview with Anadolu Agency. “We are hopeful that the upward trend in honey exports will continue through the end of the year, driven by improvements in global markets.”
