Turkish Airlines to launch free unlimited in-flight internet
Turkish Airlines (THY) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) to provide free and unlimited internet service on all flights. This initiative, set to begin by the end of this year and complete within 2 years, aims to enhance passenger experience with the latest in-flight connectivity (IFC) technologies.
Details of the agreement
The signing ceremony, held at an aviation fair in the UK, saw the participation of key figures including THY Chairman Ahmet Bolat, THY CEO Bilal Eksi, and TurkStat CEO Hasan Huseyin Ertok. The project will not only upgrade THY’s existing fleet with advanced IFC technologies but also equip new aircraft with more efficient systems.
Implementation and collaboration
THY plans to extend IFC services across its entire fleet, ensuring all passengers enjoy uninterrupted high-speed internet access for free. To achieve this, THY is collaborating with both local and international suppliers, supporting Turkish companies in developing these connectivity solutions. The project will be jointly managed by THY’s cabin systems subsidiary, TCI Aircraft Interiors, and TurkStat.
