Istanbul Airport becomes Europe’s busiest hub
Istanbul Airport has maintained its position as the busiest airport in Europe, with a remarkable average of 1,556 daily flights as of July 20, 2024, according to the latest data from the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL).
The report, which analyzes the last 30 days of traffic, underscores Istanbul Airport’s significant role in European air travel.
Ryanair Group dominated airline traffic
Following Istanbul Airport, Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport reported 1,452 flights per day, while Amsterdam Schiphol closely followed with 1,451 flights. London Heathrow and Frankfurt rounded out the top five, with 1,380 and 1,354 flights, respectively.
In terms of airline traffic, Ryanair Group dominated with an impressive 3,578 flights. easyJet Group secured the second position with 1,791 flights, followed by Turkish Airlines Group with 1,593 flights. Lufthansa Airlines and Air France Group also made the top five, recording 1,226 and 1,150 flights, respectively.
