Trump makes first public appearance following assassination attempt
Former President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump made his first public appearance following an assassination attempt during his rally in Pennsylvania last Saturday.
During the rally, Trump was addressing his supporters when he was shot at. The attack resulted in one attendee’s death and injuries to two others. The incident, occurring just two days before the formal announcement of his candidacy, shocked the United States and the world.
Immediately after the attack, a bloodied Trump stood up, raised his fist, and shouted, “Fight, fight!” He was wounded in his right ear and was quickly taken to the hospital. His condition was reported to be stable, and he was discharged shortly thereafter.
Global reactions poured in condemning the attack. The Republican Party officially announced Trump as their candidate for the Nov. 5 presidential election shortly after the incident. Following this announcement, Trump made his first public appearance.
Trump attended the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where he was greeted with applause and cheers. The former president, smiling, acknowledged the crowd’s enthusiasm.
Trump, with a bandage on his ear, was accompanied by his newly announced running mate, J.D. Vance.
