Businesses evading taxes via IBAN or mail order payments under scrutiny: Turkish Finance Minister
Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek announced via his social media account that efforts to enhance tax fairness and reduce the informal economy are ongoing.
He stated, “We are scrutinizing individuals with monthly expenditures exceeding ₺5 million (approximately $151,284) who have never declared income to tax their actual earnings. Businesses avoiding taxes through IBAN or mail order payment systems are also under investigation.”
Simsek emphasized the government’s commitment to tracking those who profit unfairly and create unfair competition by causing tax losses and evasion.
