Annual inflation rate rises to 69.8% in April

Annual inflation rate reaches 69.8% in April, significantly higher than the 43.68% recorded in the same period last year, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute

According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), Türkiye’s annual inflation rate climbed to 69.8% in April, up from 68.5% in March and significantly higher than the 43.68% recorded in the same period last year.

The monthly inflation rate also saw a slight increase, rising from 3.16% to 3.18%.

The sectors experiencing the highest price hikes on a yearly basis were education (103.86%), restaurants and hotels (95.82%), and transportation (89.39%).

Conversely, clothing and footwear showed the lowest price increase at 51.2%, followed by telecommunications (55.4%) and housing (55.55%).

In terms of monthly changes, tobacco and alcoholic beverages witnessed the highest increase at 9.56%, while health saw the lowest increase at 1.03%.
