Türkiye continues its fight against drugs. In the Narkocelik-26 operations, 57 drug dealers were apprehended, with 28 of them being arrested and 14 placed under judicial control.

Procedures are ongoing for the detention of 15 suspects.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared details of the Narkocelik-26 operations targeting drug manufacturing and sales on his social media account.

Accordingly, coordinated by the Gendarmerie General Command Fighting Smuggling and Organized Crime Department, operations were carried out in 12 provinces including Istanbul, Antalya, Bingol, Diyarbakir, Aydin, Gaziantep, Erzurum, Samsun, Hatay, Ankara, Agri and Van, involving 236 teams, 1596 personnel and aerial vehicles.

During the operations, 57 drug dealers were captured, 28 were arrested and 14 were placed under judicial control. Procedures are ongoing for others who were detained.

Authorities seized 426 kilograms (939.1 pounds) of drugs, 3,915,485 cannabis and skunk plants and 2,512,000 narcotic pills during the searches.

“We are determined to cleanse our country from drug traffickers,” Minister Yerlikaya stated, adding: “Our operations against drug traffickers will continue to intensify across our country.”

Yerlikaya commended the efforts of the gendarmerie and Customs Protection Directorate personnel involved in the operations, also sharing footage related to the operations.
