Disaster areas declared in Diyarbakir and Mardin due to fires
The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) announced that the neighborhoods affected by the agricultural fires in Diyarbakir and Mardin have been declared “General Life-Affecting Disaster Areas.”
Additionally, emergency aid funds amounting to ₺3 million ($91,685.37) were sent to Diyarbakir and ₺2 million to Mardin.
On June 20, the districts of Cinar in Diyarbakir and Mazidagi in Mardin experienced devastating fires. These fires resulted in the deaths of 15 people and caused significant damage to agricultural lands and livestock.
In response, AFAD declared a state of mobilization and designated the affected areas as “General Life-Affecting Disaster Areas.”
The statement from AFAD included the following details: “Following the agricultural fires in Diyarbakir and Mardin, the regions have been declared ‘General Life-Affecting Disaster Areas,’ and all state resources have been rapidly mobilized.
“To meet the urgent needs of the families of those who lost their lives and the families affected by the fire, an emergency aid fund of ₺3 million has been allocated to Diyarbakir and ₺2 million to Mardin, totaling ₺5 million.”
