Turkish Ambassador to Germany, Ahmet Basar Sen, highlighted the significant achievements in bilateral trade relations between Türkiye and Germany during the 8th Turkish-German Economy Day event in Dusseldorf, organized by the Association of Turkish Entrepreneurs and Industrialists in Europe (ATIAD).
Sen expressed pride in the economic dynamism facilitated by Turkish communities in Germany since the 1960s, emphasizing the contributions of Turkish companies and individuals across various sectors in Europe and Germany.
He underscored the recent high-level visits between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, which aimed to strengthen political and economic ties between the two countries.
Sen reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to reaching the $60 billion target for bilateral trade, as directed by President Erdogan, noting that trade volume had already exceeded $50 billion by the end of 2023.
Highlighting the economic significance of North Rhine-Westphalia, Sen emphasized the region’s status as a hub for Turkish-German cooperation, with a substantial foreign trade volume and significant Turkish investment.
Sen also touched upon the potential benefits of updating the EU-Türkiye Customs Union and achieving visa liberalization for Turkish citizens, as well as Türkiye’s full European Union membership and participation in the single market, which would create growth opportunities for both German and Turkish entrepreneurs.
