Türkiye’s energy watchdog hikes electricity prices by 38%
The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) announced a rise in electricity prices, impacting various consumer groups. Here’s a breakdown of the new rates:
- Residential electricity bills will jump by 38%
- Agricultural operations will see a 30% increase in electricity costs
- Public and private service providers face a tiered increase:
- The lower tier will experience a 38% rise.
- The higher tier will see a 20% increase.
With this increase, the amount payable for a residential subscriber consuming 100 kWh of electricity will be ₺207.23.
The new tariffs will be effective from July 1, 2024.
